Our Founder Sir, Reverend G.V Prasad Rao was born in Yeleswaram, Kakinada District, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. Since a very young age he was humble and very keen to help those in need.

Our Co-Founder Mrs. Susheela Gidla was born in Tanuku, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. Together, along with Founder sir, they helped those in need and dedicated their lived for the betterment of the society.

1982
The Douglas Church was established in 1982 and it aimed to provide quality education to the community

1984
Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School was the first English medium school established in the year 1984, on 23rd January with only 49 students. From there, his legacy continues till today with a total of 2800 students approx.

1992
Mr. Wilson Gidla, son of Dr. G.V Prasad Rao succeeded him as the principal of the school. With the leadership of principal Wilson Gidla, the population of the school increased from 49 to 2500+

1998-2000
The school got its affiliation from the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) & ISC

2015
In 2015, Mr. Ashwin Kumar Medidi was appointed as the Administrator of Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School. In this role, he likely oversaw the day-to-day operations of the school and made decisions related to curriculum, staffing, and resource allocation, among other responsibilities.

2017
Ms. Sonia Gidla took over as the principal of the school driving it towards excellence. Mr. Ashwin Kumar Medidi became the administrator and initiated the NGO, Operation Hope Kolkata under the banner of the school

Mr. Shashi Kant Gidla was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the school. Under this management the school has witnessed sky-high achievements.

DMHSS was recognised by Cambridge Board of Education allowing the students to access international grade education.

2022
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Mrs. Hima Gidla, the Former President of Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School, who slept in the Lord on December 29th, 2022. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

In 2023, Ms. T. Sowmya Sharon Gidla was appointed as the Research & Development Head of Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School. In this role, she is likely responsible for leading and managing research projects and initiatives aimed at improving the educational outcomes and programs offered by the school.
