Shaping Identity. Strengthening Purpose. Achieving Excellence for AllAt Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School, Middle School (Classes 6 to 9) is where confidence is built, curiosity is deepened, and students begin to discover who they are — and who they’re meant to become. Backed by 41+ years of unwavering commitment to Barrackpore’s children and families, we ensure that these crucial years are filled with guidance, challenge, and purpose. Our curriculum is dynamic and forward-thinking, aligned with national academic standards, yet powered by a deeply personal approach to learning. Students are empowered to think critically, express themselves clearly, and explore their potential — not just in the classroom, but in leadership, the arts, sports, and service. With a strong focus on academics, values, and life-skills, we prepare our learners to take on tomorrow with clarity and courage. Because at Douglas, excellence isn't just a goal — it's a promise we keep for every child. Together with the community of Barrackpore, we are shaping bold thinkers, kind hearts, and future leaders — ready for the world and rooted in values.

Stream Selection
In Class 9, students at DMHSS have the opportunity to choose their stream—Science or Commerce—based on their interests and future aspirations. This early selection allows students to focus on their preferred subjects, laying a strong foundation for their higher secondary education and aiding in their transition to Class 11.
