The Model United Nations
The Model United Nations is a platform that encourages students to form their own political opinion, gain knowledge about international relationships and develop public speaking skills. Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School promotes its students to participate in such events as they enrich the prospect of our students and strengthen them to become active change-makers of society. With this thought in mind, DMHSS has even formed its own in-house MUN Club to train the students and make them future-ready.
The students of our School recently participated in an online Inter-School MUN which was held by St. James, Kolkata. The event extended over three days from 16th – 18th of July 2021. The MUN saw the participation of several schools from all over Kolkata. A total of 8 students represented our School in the various committees. The students experienced exciting sessions of verbal combat on burning topics like ‘Strengthening International response to the socio-economic impacts of the Corona Virus Pandemic’, ‘Discussing the situation in Czechoslovakia’, ‘Formulation of India’s stance towards cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology, etc. The MUN sessions taught the students the art of diplomacy and negotiation skills and the students developed the skill of solving a problem at hand. Most importantly, the students learned the methods of conducting researches and building teamwork. Ela Chakraborty
